Ethics Committee
The CNS Ethics Committee is a multidisciplinary body, endowed with technical and scientific independence, that operates in a consultative capacity to the Board of Directors.
Its competences are:
a) To ensure the observance of ethical standards, safeguarding the principle of the dignity and integrity of the person, with a focus on patient-related medical practice;
b) To issue, on its own initiative, or upon request, opinions on ethical issues related to CNS activities;
c) To advise on the scientific research protocols elaborated within the CNS, namely those referring to diagnostic or therapeutic tests and experimental techniques involving humans and their biological products.
The Ethics Committee is made up of individuals who are recognized members of their respective fields, including bioethics, theology, law, human sciences, and various areas of clinical activity.
The members of the Ethics Committee are Prof. Doctor Mário Miguel Rosa (President), Dr. Gonçalo Esteves (Vice President), Prof. Doctor Sofia Reimão, Prof. António Corado, Sr. Marta Rodrigues, Dra. Filomena Sousa, and Nurse. Marta Pires.
